Ballarat Project

Ballarat, founded in 1838 is a town about one hundred kilometres from Melbourne, It was the centre of the gold rush in Victoria. There is a great selection of incredible architecture from the gold rush period and the incredible growth in Melbourne has impacted Ballarat as a region capital with many government service based there for the region. Buildings like the government hub are changing the face of the town while much of the historical character remains, the change in smaller towns can be quite dramatic. Documenting the change of the town is quite something with fringes changing dramatically. The Ballarat 2040 Plan is a collection of ideas and plans to build the city responsibly over the coming decades.
